Odilim Enwegbara, Apo, Abuja: Speaking at the Union Bank’s 100 years of banking in Nigeria, the ex-Central Bank of Nigeria boss, Lamido Sanusi, publicly confessed that his years at the CBN were never good for Nigeria’s economy.

Thank God that Emir Muhammadu Sanusi has finally confessed that his neoliberal monetary policy was very harmful to Nigeria’s economy and that that was the major reason why $501bn earned from oil export was wasted without anything to show for it.

I wish I were there, I would have used the opportunity to remind him how as his foremost critic, he made sure that I was fought back by his media foot soldiers.

Today, Godwin Emefiele is repeating the same neoliberal monetary policy mistakes made by his predecessors. Like them, he has also made sure that there is no media space for me to even air my opinion.

Maybe, three years after he too has left the CBN, he too would publicly confess how his following the IMF orders destroyed our real economy with his audience clapping for him the same way Sanusi’s audience recently clapped for him while speaking at the Union Bank’s 100 years of banking in Nigeria event.
