In an effort to boost performance, the Professional Taekwondo Coaches Association of Nigeria (PTCAN) has concluded arrangements for a quarterly training and assembly for its members.

A Taekwondo Grand Master (GM), Ferguson Oluigbo, gave the hint in an interview on Wednesday in Lagos.

Oluigbo said that certified coaches would through the programme improve themselves in kyorugi, honshindul, demonstration and coaching.

According to him, the 2018 first quarter edition will take place on March 31 at the National Stadium, Lagos.

Oluigbo told NAN that the monthly PTCAN programme would still continue, to accommodate young coaches and give them maximum time to get familiar with current rules.

“We decided to organise this package on quarterly basis to appraise the monthly activities and increase participation.

“It is going to be an assembly for coaches, instructors and athletes; it is going to be a full package.

“The aim is to be in unity and have uniformity and standards in coaching,’’ he told NAN.

According to him, PTCAN would ensure that only professional coaches are permitted to help up-and-coming taekwondoists to build their careers.

“We want to increase awareness and development of taekwondo in primary and secondary schools to ensure that the foundation of cadet and junior is strong so that they will have sound technical background,’’ he added. (NAN)
