Super Eagles defender bids emotional farewell to club

Super Eagles defender Shehu Abdullahi, bid farewell to Anorthosis Famagusta of Cyprus.

Super Eagles right back Shehu Abdullahi is set to join Turkish side Bursaspor after playing his final game for Anorthosis Famagusta of Cyprus.

The wing back has become a steady choice for Gernot Rohr in the World Cup qualification matches.

Shehu showed appreciation for the two years he spent at the Cyrus based club, as he wrote an emotional letter on his Twitter handle to the supporters of the club, and also the club's management, manager and his teammates.

The 24 year old is set to join Bursaspor, where he would team up with compatriots William Troost-Ekong, Paschal Okoli and Mikel Agu.

The defender scored in his last game from the penalty spot and was also captain for the match against EthnikosAchna, which ended 3 - 1 in favour of Anorthosis.

Abdullahi played in the  Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) for Kano Pillars, and then moved abroad to play for Qadsia in Kuwait, then he joined União da Madeira in the second division of Portugal and then Anorthosis Famagusta.

Shehu was first invited to the Super Eagles by the late Stephen Keshi for the African Nation's Championship (CHAN), and was part of the Nigerian under 23 side that won the bronze medal at the 2016 Rio olympics.
