The Oluwo of Iwo land, Osun State, Oba Abulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, on Monday, donated medical equipment worth N1.5bn to hospitals in Iwo land.

A statement signed by the media aide to the monarch, Alli Ibraheem, said the gesture was Oluwo’s support for the health sector and Osun State indigenes at large.

“The medical consignment was facilitated by the monarch in collaboration with the Nigerian Association of Young Adults of Canada since 2016.

“For those who know Oba Akanbi, he is never moved by money, he is consistent and endowed with foresight,” the statement said.

The media aide said the equipment could not be dispersed at once and that the remaining was available to be moved at the preference of the state ministry of health.

The presentation had in attendance many dignitaries led by the governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Rafiu Usamot;  a representative of the Nigerian Association of Youth Adults in Canada, Mr. Sola Agboola; Iwo princes led by Aremo Adelani Akanbi; and the chiefs led by Chief Oosa Yekin Orobimpe, among others.
