The Taraba State Police Command, on Saturday, said officers attached to Bali division, killed five suspected kidnappers in crossfire in Garba Chede, Bali Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, David Misal, in a statement, said the gunmen had on Friday invaded the house of one Yakubu Atiku of Garba Chede in an attempt to kidnap him when operatives of the command attached to Bali responded to a distress call and engaged the suspects.

“One AK-47 rifle, one English pump action, two single -barrelled guns, 16 cartridges, three expanded 7.62 mm ammunition and assorted charms were recovered from them,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, two women sustained various degrees of injuries when gunmen said to be Fulani militia attacked Ayu, Donga LGA of the state on Friday night.

An eyewitness, Mr. Henry Ianna, told our correspondent that six armed Fulani militia attacked Ayu village during a wake, injuring two women.

Similarly, the Chairman of Takum LGA, Shiban Tikari, alleged that armed Fulani men terrorising Takum and its environs on Friday attacked and injured one person in Fawe, Takum LGA.

Tikari told our correspondent that the victim was attacked when he went to fetch foodstuff in the farm.

When contacted, the Police PPRO told our correspondent that he had yet to receive briefing from the DPO of Donga.
