Seventy-two people have died from Lassa fever since the start of the year, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said Wednesday.
On February 6, the health ministry had reported 31 deaths from the disease, which is caused by a virus of the same family as Marburg and Ebola.
